Short Profile
myOutdoorEscape is a GPS-based outdoor puzzle tour app for iOS and Android. Its key differentiator is the author mode: users can immediately create their own private courses anywhere, play public courses or submit their own public courses for everyone. The app combines smartphone, map, GPS, real places, puzzle stations, search images, hints, team play and a final puzzle.
myOutdoorEscape turns cities, parks and excursion spots into playable GPS puzzle tours that can be created without programming knowledge, privately for friends and family or publicly for others.

Go outside, solve puzzles together and rediscover familiar places: the myOutdoorEscape app turns cities, parks and excursion spots into GPS-based puzzle tours. At its center is not another city guide, but an easy way to create your own playable courses. Anyone with a special route, favorite park or personal place in mind can build a course directly in the app, using GPS stations, search images, tasks and predefined puzzle types, anywhere and without programming knowledge.
myOutdoorEscape is aimed at families, groups of friends, birthday groups, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and anyone who wants to combine an outing with a playful goal. Private courses can be created immediately for a specific group, for example with personal places, memories and insider questions. Public courses can also be discovered and played in the app, and the app explicitly invites users to build the first appealing public courses in their own city.
Playing: One course, one team, real places
Players start with a private game code or choose a public course in the app. The app guides them to the starting point and then from station to station via GPS. At each station, teams encounter puzzles, search images, photo tasks, hints and a final puzzle. Depending on the course, teams can play together, share progress and continue even without a permanent internet connection once the course has been downloaded. GPS also works without mobile reception.
The app is not limited to predefined places. Its core idea is that private courses can be created and played immediately anywhere. Anyone who knows a good route in their own city, favorite park or around a special place can also turn it into a public course for others.
Creating: The author mode as the core of the app
In author mode, users create their own course, set stations on location via GPS, capture search images and design suitable tasks. The app supports authors with fixed puzzle and task types, so they do not have to start from scratch. Options include counting and observation questions, photo tasks, symbol codes, tile images, spot-the-difference tasks, image sorting, compass walks and crossword puzzles.
Private courses can be tailored to a specific group. A birthday course can include personal places and memories; a bachelor or bachelorette course can include tasks about the bride or groom. Public courses, by contrast, must be generally solvable and are reviewed before publication. This makes the same app both a private tool for personal experiences and a platform for well-designed location-based puzzle routes.
Users who create a public course and submit it for publication can receive free plays after successful approval. For more extensive editing, a web editor is also available so texts and images can be refined on desktop.
Designed with privacy in mind
myOutdoorEscape does not require a user account for players. Players enter via course selection or game code. Location data is not stored on servers; it is used locally for GPS navigation. Private courses are made available only temporarily when shared and are deleted after the game or after expiry. The app does not use analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
